Course Objectives:In this course we will examine biomechanics in relation to human and sporting movements. The goal of the course will be the development of an understanding of the laws of motion, principles associated with the study of biomechanics, and the application of these principles in the study of human movement, exercise, and sporting activities.Learning Outcomes:Explain the principles of kinematics and kinetics in relation to human movement.Apply the laws of motion to the human body.Explain the application of internal and external forces during mechanical motion.Interpret data from biomechanical analysis of various human movement patterns.Explain the anatomical lever systems of the body in relation to the generation of force.Course Structure:The “Biomechanics of Exercise and Sporting” course is structured into eight comprehensive modules, each focusing on a specific component of biomechanics. Throughout the course, learners will engage with a variety of reference materials, including published articles, informative videos, and detailed PowerPoint presentations. Each module is designed to build on the previous one, ensuring a cohesive learning experience. To reinforce understanding and assess progress, each module concludes with a quiz. This combination of diverse learning materials and regular assessments ensures that participants gain a thorough and practical understanding of biomechanics in exercise and sport.
